 What's Shakin'? It's just 2 days (or "2 more sleeps" as our dear sister Karen says! :-) ) before The Hittin' The Web Family of Bands Shows at the Second Street Music Hall in Gadsden, AL.
What's particularly joyous about this event (other than, gee, they've got great lineage ;-) ) is that the artists involved are getting together for the love of music and the extended family. They're coming from all over the country, bringin' it home to Alabama for you.

As if getting a chance to see Oteil up close and personal at the Hittin' The Web Family of Bands Shows wasn't cool enough, bass players have the chance to spend four days with Oteil learning his groovy funk/jazz/jam bass styles at the Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch, June 2 - 5.

Willie Perkins was the road manager for the Allman Brothers Band from 1970 to 1976. This book offers a personal view of those heady and tumultuous days. I've read a lot of accounts of the "Beginnings" of the ABB and many rehash the same stories and even the same quotes -- I found a fresh perspective here that helped give a new dimension to those times. |  Hittin' the Web's Gig House - a new section that spotlights bands you may not have heard about, but should - is NOW OPEN, featuring our first artists-in-residence Jim Weider, Dick Griffin, and their latest House mate, Dru Lombar . While it's always been our pleasure to feature undiscovered artists on Radio HTW, The Gig House kicks that notion up a notch by spotlighting them here on the home page, in dedicated HTW pages, and on the HTW Family calendar.
Our goal is to jump start the family's interest in a few bands at a time, for a two-month period ... long enough for you to get a taste of what they're about and maybe even see them live. At the end of two months we'll give 'em a hug, open the door, and invite new bands into the Gig House. We're looking for volunteers to review CDs, write concert reviews, contribute pix, conjure up graphics, and form street teams for this project. Are you The Man? Are you The Woman? Let us know! The pay is non-existant, but the good karma and possibilities you'll harvest are endless. Trust us, we know a *little* about how doing something you love just for the heck of it can turn your life around! ;-)
